Face of the Day! : Tuesday, October 7th

Standard

Hi guys!
I figured while in-between writing up my posts I’d put up a quick little blog snippet for the make-up lovers. I really like seeing ‘Face of the Day’ posts for different looks to inspire me from day to day. If you haven’t seen EmilyNoel83 on YouTube I recommend her! She’s your average make-up with a extensive collection and has such a great, trusted opinion! Here is her blog called Beauty Broadcast.

Being a little bit of a copy-cat, here’s the face I made up today!

So let’s start from the beginning…
The Face
Primer: Revlon Photoready primer
Foundation: Revlon Colorstay Whipped foundation in Buff (applied with Elf Studio Stipple brush)
Concealer: Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser in Fair (I believe?). Used NYC Transparent Face powder to set under eyes.

Blush: Elf Baked blush in Wild Rose
Bronzer: Elf Healthy Glow Powder in Sunkissed

The Eyes
Eyebrows: Nyx Eyebrow Cake powder in Blonde with Maybelline Great Lash clear gel on top

Eyeshadow: (Inner) Wet n’ Wild Creme Brulee (Outer) L.A Colors…some tan shade. Descriptive, I know haha!
Liner: Jordana Fabuliner in black
Mascara: Maybelline Great Lash Lot’s O’ Lashes in brownish black.

Lips: Covergirl Outlast All day lipcolor in 507

I never realized how much I put on my face til I had to type it all out. Wow!

I had been wanting to wear a bolder lip since fall in officially in season! The cooler weather is helping my make-up stay on much better and I just feel far more inspired to try new make-up that makes me go out of my comfort zone. I had several compliments on my red lips today, so I must’ve made a good choice! However I only wore it for about 8 hours before I really felt the need to take it off…which was a hassle.

So, I hope you guys liked this mini post! Let me know if you want to keep seeing posts like this, or share anything that is on your minds!

Til then. God bless!

Ipsy Bag Review! September 2014.

Standard

Hello all! Happy October!
October is my favorite month of alllll time! Such wonderful things happen in my life in the month of October for some reason. My grandparents and parents anniversary is also in October. Love seems to spring forth in October, haha. 🙂

Today on my blog I’ve got an ipsy bag review! If you don’t know what Ipsy is, it is a subscription service that sends you a variety of sample-size (or sometimes deluxe sample size or even full sized) products for you to try out! It is mainly a make-up/hair/skin product service. It’s only $10 a month and you receive up to 5 different products and a cute little make-up bag!

You also can review your products on the ipsy website and obtain points! When you share facebook posts or tweet to your twitter account you can obtain points that way as well. After racking up so many points (usually a 1000) you can redeem a free product that will be included in your next bag!

This is the 2nd month I’ve gotten a bag and I really love it. I get so excited when I see my ipsy package in my mailbox. Here’s the website if you want to check it out or subscribe: https://www.ipsy.com/r/1k41csid=ipsypoints&cid=email

So onto the goodies!
This month’s theme was Street Style. The bag is a grey metallic make up bag with sliver studs at the top by the zipper. Extremely cute. I have yet to find a use for it though, so it’s been sitting in the desk drawer.

Caviar CC Cream 10 in 1 complete correction
Cailyn Art Touch tinted lip gloss
Infinity Shadow/Crease Duet brush from Crown brush
Pacifica natural minerals eyeliner pencil in gun metal
Nyx single eyeshadow in Chandelier Lustre

Let’s go on down the line.
The Caviar CC Cream is a hair cream that you run through your hair after a shower. It has a decent smell but after using it I don’t notice anything in particular about it. My hair is short, so it doesn’t take much product to cover my hair. It does make your hair shiny and gives it a bit of a softer feel. The original size is 2.5 fl oz and retails at Sephora for $25. This sample size is .85 fl oz.

The Cailyn Art Touch tint lip gloss is a full size in the ipsy bag! I’m pretty sure the shade is Basic Instinct and it’s a nice coral shade. I really like this gloss! It’s a little sticky, but when it dries it has a bit of a matte finish to it. The shade compliments my skin tone. The the Cailyn website this lipgloss retails for $19.

The Infinity Shadow/Crease duet brush from Crown brush was an interesting and unexpected find in my bag. At first I wasn’t too excited about it but the more I use it the more I am impressed with it! It picks up shadow very well and I’m learning how the use the smudge part of the brush for my crease. The only problem I have with it is storing it since I like the keep my brushes upright. This brush retails for $6.99!

The Pacifica natural mineral eyeliner pencil is probably my least favorite product out of everything. I don’t find the color to be realistic for me since I don’t use unusual liner colors on my eyes. Plus I’ve never been a fan of eyeliner pencils because they feel too rough for my liking. I may decide to give this to a friend or try out or something because I just simply won’t use this. The full size of this retails for $11.

And last but not least I have the Nyx eyeshadow single in Chandelier! This is a cool, frosty beige color and is extremely shimmery. I was pretty excited to receive this single because I’d been wanting to try a Nyx eyeshadow for quite some time now! I wish I had gotten a more pigmented color, but I love using this in the inner part of my eyeshadow looks. The texture is very soft and overall is easy to work with and blend! They sell for $4.50 each.

As you can tell I definitely got my money’s worth out of this bag- and all for $10! I’m excited for my next bag coming up in October! If you guys have any questions, just wanna chat, or need a prayer request just leave a comment! I have some more blog posts in the works, like a September Thrift Haul, September favorites, and a Catholic post on the Beauty of Singleness that I’m excited to type up and share with you guys!

Til then. God bless!

Kleancolor nail polish: Grape Parade & other tacky polishes.

Standard

Hi guys!
Today (or, uh, rather this morning since I’m typing this up at 1:41 AM) I have a review of the Kleancolor nail polishes I found on sale at my local Walgreens!

If you’ve ever tried Kleancolor, they have a variety of polishes. I was only interested in this brand because they were on sale for 99 cents at Walgreens the other day when I shopped there. I picked up three beautiful colors! Because what girl doesn’t need more nail polish? (You guys, I seriously have too much polish. But let’s keep that our little secret, shall we?)

The colors I picked up, from right to left, is Grape Parade, Sensual Lagroon, and Blueberry Drama. In the photo that all look really dark, but the picture really doesn’t do it justice. Each shade is a deep, gorgeous color that I think would look good on all nails. Grape Parade and Blueberry Drama are scented polishes while Sensual Lagoon is an opaque matte polish.

The Cons

  • The scented nail polishes smell SO BAD when you first open them. I about died when I initially opened the bottles because the scent was so strong! I definitely don’t care for scented nail polish. I mean… if you want to wear scent why not just buy a perfume? It doesn’t make sense to me.
  • For some reason on my bottle of Grape Parade I had some nail polish dry on the outside of the bottle? Like the part that the lid screws onto the bottle? And because of it it made it a little tricky to open. Not a huge problem but I wouldn’t want to have to deal with that each time I wanted to open the bottle.

The Pros

  • I really do think these are amazingly beautiful shades. The Grape Parade shade can look like a deep purple in some lights but then appear navy in others. I really do enjoy when nail polishes can appear like different colors.
  • It only takes 2 coats on the nail for your nail to be completely covered!
  • The price was awesome! Can’t beat 99 cents!
  • The opaque matte Sensual Lagoon polish was my favorite color and I like that it dried matte. I just need to learn how to get it to not have so many streaks in it.

Has your local Walgreens been selling these for a discounted price? Are there other colors I should try out? What’s you favorite shade? Let me know!

Til then. God bless!

NYC Expert Last Lipstick: Coralista

Standard

WARNING: This blog post is definitely not Catholic related today! Haha! Sorry guys. But I do have some other Catholic centered blog posts ideas swirling around in my head, so don’t worry. 🙂

I really love reviewing products. I’m one of those people who won’t buy something unless I see that the product works for other people (for the most part). I tend to do a lot of research on the product before I buy it. Or I’ll buy something to try it out at the right price… a.k.a cheap, haha!

Today I have a little review on the NYC Expert Last Lipstick in the shade Coralista. I purchase this from my local WalMart for a $1.96 simply because I wanted to try a coral colored lip color.
image (9)

This lipstick has pretty good coverage. Do they stick to your lips? Yes. But they also rub off on anything and everything you eat as well. The color is nice, bright and bold, and it doesn’t take much to get full coverage! I noticed this coral went more towards the orangey side, but it wasn’t obnoxious in my opinion. It doesn’t dry out your lips.

Will it last 6 hours? No, probably not. I had to reapply some to get the bold color back after about 3 hours of wear.

image (8)

This formula is a little bit creamier than most, which I’m going to assume is why they don’t dry out your lips too quickly. There is little to no shimmer in this color. The packaging is a little cheap. My particular lipstick has cuts in the stick of the product so I’m sometimes scared it’s going to fall out! But this isn’t the first time I’ve noticed that NYC has kind of…underrated packaging (my NYC concealer stick is the same way).

Overall, for under $2 I would say they’re decent! If you’re wanting to expand your horizons with lipstick shades to see what really works for you this would be a good brand to try that since NYC has a large selection of colors to choose from.

What kind of lipsticks would you recommend to beginners who are experimenting with color? What’s your favorite drugstore brand of lip stick? Let me know in the comments!

God bless!

What I Wore to Church: Sunday July 27th!

Standard

If you’ve ever looked around the blog networks typically you’ll see a ‘What I Wore’ segment on most beauty blogs. For me being a woman I really enjoy looking at these! They feed my inner desire to attempt to be fashionable, haha! But I like looking at them so much that I figured I’d start my own ‘What I Wore’ but do a sunday edition!

So here it is: What I Wore to Church!

I think there’s a problem in most parishes that people don’t know how to properly dress to go to mass. Especially in the summer, with the heat and all, people begin to either become skimpier with their clothing or they don’t dress up at all. Personally, I believe that when you go to the Lord’s house you should be properly dressed. Do you need to go all out? No. But should you be covered? Yes. I like I think of it as putting on your best, clean clothes. Don’t look like a pile of rags and don’t look like you’re going to work out if you don’t have to!

This is what I wore to my 6 o’clock mass.

I don’t typically wear skirts. Pants are usually my friends but I decided to switch it up today! My inspiration came from Pinterest (obviously!)

190271858c9cb3cd833ad0a9578e0199 2bdf228c3880a5e46d1835904004c9f2

Here are the details about my clothes:
Shirt: Thrifted denim shirt with the sleeves rolled up, $3
Skirt: Purchased from Family Dollar, $11
Shoes: Payless brand, $10?
Belt: Deb, came from one of my other dresses
Jewelry: Saint Anne medal, gifted from the boyfriend 🙂

How do you think people should dress to go to church? Do you think some people show too much skin? Should churches tell their congregation about how to dress? Let me know!

Til then. God bless!
